Top Acne Home Remedies That Work

Some of the best home remedies for acne have been shown to work to keep acne at bay in order to help many enjoy clear blemish free skin. Before spending tons of money on effective or ineffective acne treatments, you may first want to try some of the common ingredients you have in your home to see whether they may work to clear your skin. Or if you are adopting a more natural approach to your life, home remedies may be something you are looking into. If so, here are some of the top acne remedies that work to eliminate blemishes and keep them away.

Acne Home Remedies

1. Food

While many dermatologists do not advocate that the elimination of certain foods or changing your diet can fight acne, you may find that eating or eliminating certain foods may help or worsen breakouts. The culprits are definitely individualized. This isn't a one size fits all. While for one it may be chocolate or fast foods, someone else may not have a problem with these foods but the issue may be nuts and so forth. Many people who adopt a healthier diet (more fruits and veggies) have reported that they are able to enjoy clearer skin even though that was not the goal in the first place so this is something you may want to think about.

2. Tea Tree Oil

There are many acne ingredients that are available on prescription or that are available over the counter including salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, antibiotics, retinoids, etc. Many of these can make the acne worse or even have various side effects such as increasing skin sensitivity, drying out the skin, birth defects, etc, so before using any of these or instead of them, you may want to try a more natural ingredient.
One of the top acne home remedies that work is using tea tree oil which is derived from a plant that is native to Australia known as the melaleuca alternifolia.

This natural oil has been shown to be just as effective if not more so than one of the most popular acne ingredients benzoyl peroxide without any of the issues that can arise from using benzoyl peroxide which you can't use long term either. A few drops of tea tree essential oil can be applied directly to the blemishes or to other areas of the skin for preventative measures. Depending on your sensitivity to this essential oil, you may want to dilute it in a carrier oil such as jojoba, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, etc.

Do not take this essential oil internally as it is poisonous when swallowed and avoid contact with eyes and the mouth. Look for formulations that are 100 percent and contain no other ingredients or oils. Many of those found in various stores will say tea tree oil but once you examine the ingredient list, tea tree oil may be just ONE of the ingredients and not the only ingredient.

3. Carrot Juice

Another of the top acne home remedies that work is to use carrot juice topically although you can eat carrots too as they are a great source of the skin vitamin - vitamin A - which helps to improve skin. In order to use carrot juice topically, juice the carrots (using a juicer preferably) and add about a teaspoon of sea salt to the juice. A very small amount of sea salt is generally required to be added to the amount of juice you use.
After making this mixture, rub it gently on your face paying attention to the acne areas. Be very gentle because of the salt which helps to exfoliate the skin. Leave this mixture on your skin until it dries and wash off with warm water. Use weekly or a couple times a week.

4. Baking soda

Baking soda is a great at home gentle exfoliator for the skin and it is also a great facial mask for acne prone skin because it helps to remove excess oil from the surface of the skin. You simply need to take enough baking soda to cover your face and add enough water to make a paste. Apply to your face and gently rub it is circular motions and wash off to reveal soft smooth skin.

5. At home toner

One of the most popular home remedies for acne is to use an apple cider vinegar (ACV) toner. If you cannot find ACV, you can use white vinegar. Simply mix equal parts vinegar and distilled water and use after cleansing. Does not need to be refrigerated or washed off.

Vinegar (especially ACV) contains many beneficial properties including antibacterial properties which can help to kill the bacterium that is commonly associated with acne.

Another great at home toner is to use aloe vera gel which also contains various beneficial properties including being anti-bacterial. Use aloe vera gel available in stores or use the actual plant. Unless you are sensitive to aloe vera, you do not need to dilute the gel. If you have sensitive skin, dilute the gel with some distilled water. Does not need to be washed off. Aloe vera spoils easily so you may need to refrigerate the remainder and discard within a few days or weeks if there is still some unused.

6. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are another excellent home remedy to treat acne. All you need to do is cut a tomato and place the fleshy part directly on the blemishes. Tomatoes are a great acne fighter because they contain malic acid which is an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) that is great for the skin. AHA helps the skin shed dead skin cells so that they do not become trapped in the pores and when combined with excess oil and bacteria can cause or worsen acne. This remedy can also help to fade acne scars by hastening skin exfoliation.

7. Yogurt

Yogurt is one of the top foods for general health and wellbeing because it contains probiotics which help fight off bad bacteria such as those that cause acne while ensuring that the body is populated with good bacteria that promote general health and wellbeing.

Only use plain natural yogurt and none of the specialty yogurts such as low fat yogurt and so forth. Simply get some plain yogurt and apply to your face and leave to dry. You may want to have a towel around your shoulders or behind your head if you are lying down to catch any spillage. After this yogurt face mask dries, simply wash it off. Yogurt also has some mild bleaching properties which can help to reduce hyperpigmentation from acne scars.

Effective Ways to Get Rid of Acne

Many people are now looking towards natural home remedies for acne, instead of off-the-shelf products to get rid of their acne problems. This is understandable since it is both convenient and economical to do so at home. Before we go straight into any home remedy for acne, let's take a look at some of the simple things to do to complement our acne home remedies.

Proper vitamin supplement intakes, lots of water and regular exercise will help to detoxify our bodies, and improve our skin condition. This will work hand in hand with the following cheap but effective home remedies for acne:

1. Did you know that your toothpaste can help to reduce the swelling of your pimples? Apply some before you sleep and you will see the immediate effect the next morning.

2. Mix lemon juice with rose water. One lemon with same proportion of rose water will do. Apply it on your face and rinse it only after 30 mins. Constantly doing so will not only get rid of acne and pimples, but it also has the effect of lightening the skin blemishes.

3. Use fresh mint juice to apply on your face.

4. Strawberry leaves can also help to reduce the pimple swelling.

5. Orange peel can also be used. Basically, you need to mash it or blend it, mix with some water to form a paste before applying on your problem area.

6. Mix turmeric powder with some mint juice before applying on the acne. Wash it off with clean, lukewarm water after about 30 mins.

7. Even cooking condiments such as vinegar and salt have their uses as home remedies for acne. Mix the two together, before rubbing the mix over the pimples. Leave it there for some 10 to 20 mins before removing with lukewarm water.

8. Make a paste with cucumber before using it as a facial mask. Leave the mask on for 30 mins daily. Doing this will prevent acne from breaking out.

9. If you can tolerate the smell of garlic on your face, then go ahead to apply some fresh garlic on the pimples. They will disappear after repeated applications.

10. Even the milk that you drink is useful as a home remedy for acne. Blend nutmeg with milk and you have a powerful paste to zap those pimples away.

While these have worked for many folks who tried them, it does not guarantee it will work for some people.

Remove Acne Scars through Herbal Ways

What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition characterized by plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even upper arms.

Acne commonly starts in the early teen years, when the oil glands in the body start secreting excess sebum (oil).

Although acne is usually not a serious health threat, it can be a source of significant emotional distress. Severe acne can lead to permanent scarring.

Who gets acne?

# Anyone can get acne, but it is most common in teenagers. It may be worse in boys because they have more skin oils.

# Changing hormone levels in adolescent girls and adult women two to seven days before their menstrual period starts.

# Heredity also plays a role. If your mother and father had bad acne, you may too get it.

# Some people are extra sensitive to the bacteria that are trapped in their hair follicles.

What causes acne?

The exact cause of acne is unknown, but doctors believe it results from several related factors.
One important factor is an increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones). These hormones increase in both boys and girls during puberty and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and secrete more sebum. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy; starting or stopping of birth control pills can also cause acne in women.

Another factor is heredity. Researchers believe that the tendency to develop acne can be inherited from parents.

Certain cosmetics and drugs, including androgens, are known to cause acne. Greasy cosmetics may alter the cells of the follicles and make them stick together, giving rise to a plugged pore.

Environmental factors, such as grease, pollution and dirt.

Stress and tension - related to hormonal change.

Does acne in women become worse before periods?

Yes. Due to hormonal changes during menstruation, many women get acne two to seven days before their periods. This gets heightened in teenage years as lot of hormonal changes take place at this time.
Factors that can make acne worse -
Factors that can cause an acne flare include:

o Changing hormonal levels in adolescents. In girls and adult women, before their menstrual period starts
o Oil from cosmetics, skin products or grease
o Pressure from garments, helmets, sports gear, tight elastic
o Environmental irritants, such as pollution and high humidity
o Hard scrubbing of the skin

What kind of clothes/cosmetics affect acne?

If there is constant pressure resulting from headbands, bra straps, waist bands, it could cause acne eruption in those areas of the skin.

Certain cosmetics could lead to blackhead formation in the skin. Avoid hair oils, which induce blackheads and whiteheads along your hairline. Some people are also sensitive to suntan lotions.

Does acne cause scars?
Acne, especially cystic acne, can cause scars in some people. You can help reduce scarring by not squeezing blemishes. Also, avoid scrubbing your skin. If you do get scars, treatment is available.

Some truths about acne:
► Acne most often starts at around age 11 for girls and 13 for boys.
► There is no scientific evidence to prove that junk food and greasy foods cause acne.
► There's no scientific evidence to back up the claim that oily skin or hair causes acne
► If you or your spouse had acne as a teenager, there is likelihood that your teen will experience this.

Some myths about acne:

# Eating chocolate and greasy foods-like french-fries, burgers, causes acne breakouts.
# Getting a tan helps clear up acne.
# If you scrub your face more often, your skin will be clearer and you will not get acne.
# Dirty skin causes acne;
# Stress does not cause acne.

How is acne treated?

Acne is treated by skin specialists known as dermatologists.
The goal is to cure existing lesions, prevent new lesions from erupting, prevent scarring, and minimize the emotional pressure and embarrassment caused by acne. Not only girls, but also even boys face a very traumatic experience in their adolescent period. Drugs are used to reduce several problems that play a part in causing acne:

o abnormal clumping of cells in the follicles
o increased oil production
o bacteria
o Inflammation.

Depending on the extent of the problem as well as the type of acne, the doctor may recommend some over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and/or prescription medicines. Some may be topical (applied to the skin), and others may be oral (taken by mouth).

How should people with acne take care of their skin?

# Clean skin gently.
# Avoid frequent handling of the skin - People who squeeze, pinch, or pick the pimples risk developing scars. They should avoid rubbing and touching their skin lesions.
# Shave carefully
# Choose cosmetics carefully
# Avoid a sunburn or suntan - many of the medicines used to treat acne can make a person more prone to sunburn.

Some home remedies for acne cure -

1. Dried orange peel pounded well with water. Applied to affected acne areas like a face mask. Remove after 10 minutes.
2. Grated pieces of cucumber to be applied on the affected area.
3. Rub the pimple with a fresh clove of garlic.
4. Drinking plenty of water to flush out toxins from body. It also imparts a healthy glow to the skin
5. A paste of Fenugreek (Methi) leaves applied overnight on acne and washed off next morning helps control the problem.

What works for one person may not work for another. What is an appropriate treatment for one person may not clear another's acne. Do not get impatient! Get medical treatment if your condition gets worse.

Some Acne Home Treatments That Can Solve Your Skin Problems

There are quite a few acne home treatments that you can follow to solve your acne problems. Most of us resort to buying products that are shown to work like magic on pimples and make them disappear forever. The truth is that most of these products only work temporarily and once you stop using them, your acne returns again. Such products contain antibiotics and acids like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and sulfur which work by reducing bacteria and drying out the pimples.

What Home Acne Treatments Will Work For You?
Some of the essential things you need to do to keep your skin clear of pimples are a good cleansing regimen, a healthy diet and plenty of water intake. You could check with a dermatologist about using certain medicated creams for your acne if it is very severe. But apart from that just some simple things can make a huge difference to your skin.

You need to make sure your skin is kept clean by following a regular cleansing routine. You should wash your face with a mild cleanser at least twice a day. You could use a face scrub twice a week. Do not scrub your skin too much as it could make things worse. Even your hair needs to be kept clean so shampoo everyday and keep it away from your face. Drink plenty of water, at least 8 glasses a day, to flush out the toxins. Make sure you eat enough fruits and vegetables everyday. A healthy diet does wonders for your skin.
Another great way to keep acne at bay is exercise of any form. You may try jogging, skipping or even dancing. When you sweat, your pores get unclogged and let all the oils out. You can see the difference after just a week of daily exercise.

These are changes you can make to your lifestyle to ensure healthy and clear skin. But are there any real home acne treatments that we can follow to get rid of our pimples and blackheads? One very effective treatment is steaming your face. You can do this three to four times a week. Steaming your face unblocks your pores and lets all the oil out easily so it doesn't accumulate under your skin.

Another important thing to remember is to avoid fatty foods as these could aggravate your condition. So the next time you are feeling like a snack, have some fat free yoghurt with fruits instead of grabbing a bag of oily potato wafers.

Applying honey on the affected areas works wonders. Honey kills bacteria on your skin and prevents more from attacking. Application of other natural ingredients like garlic cloves, rose water and orange peel paste can also help clear your acne.

In addition to these simple home acne treatments, you could take certain supplements which are good for your skin. Vitamin A is good for your skin as it reduces the amount of sebum produced by your oil glands. Zinc is another effective supplement as it helps reduce inflammation and heals blemishes. Of course, you will need to check with your doctor before you start taking any supplements.

Ensure that your creams and cosmetics are all water-based. Anything else will make your skin very oily. Keep your hands off your face. If you keep touching your face, you transfer more bacteria on to it. As you can see, there are many home acne treatments you can follow to prevent and cure acne.

Acne Medication: Plan Your Treatment

Acne is a condition experienced by millions of people across the world. Some have better experiences than the other, the reason being exclusive condition of the skin. No individual can be the same. Everybody is unique and have different issues. The disease or skin condition might be the same, but not everyone can tolerate the same medicines, treatments, etc.

Earlier, teenagers were asked to cut out on oily food, street food, clean the body more regularly, give up on all the bad habits, and along with that were handed a tube of Clearasil and astringent. Nobody really delved deep into the cause of acne, treating every victim as the same. However, with medical progress, it has been researched and diagnosed that pimples can be of different kinds, and they all require different kinds of acne medication.

1.       Comedonal acne: This form of pimple is mild and consists of black- and white-head development. An oily produce of the skin called sebum blocks the pores of the skin. That leads to the formation of comedonal acne. Their appearance is majorly on the chin, nose and forehead.

2.       Cysticacne: This is the worst acne condition. This can be related to an infection triggered by acne outbreak in a particular area of the skin. This kind of acne leaves a blemished skin and scars you psychologically.
3.       Inflammatory acne: This is the common red pimple which you may see on your face. The area beneath a white or black head inflames to form this kind of acne.

Acne medication for comedonal and inflammatory acne:

Traditional acne medication is recommended for this kind of pimple outbreak. Tazorac, Differin, Retin-A, Renova, are the most common retinoid indorsed for these kind of acne. Retinoid is always accompanied by an antibiotic which helps in killing the bacteria that forms around the blocked pore and cause inflammation.

Acne medication for hormonal acne:

Hormonal acne developed during puberty is aggravated by the raging hormones of teenage girls. Oral contraceptives are recommended in this case.

Acne medication for severe cystic acne:

Accutane or laser therapies are perhaps the only two treatments to severe acne. Accutane definitely has some side effects which can be avoided if one can sign up for the very expensive laser treatment. This form of acne requires higher medical care.

Once you know your condition it is time to plan your treatment, be it medical or natural.

Why do Grown-ups get Pimples?

We do have a false impression of acne being a teen-age skin condition. And when it breaks out on a 30-year-old’s skin, we go berserk thinking what has gone wrong? No, this is definitely not the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Say hello to your adult acne and ensure you get rid of it soon. There are various reasons that trigger adult acne.

Reason #1

Blackheads: A blocked pore is your skin’s enemy. Pimples begin at the threshold of a blackhead formation. Oil and dead cells clog the pores and that, when exposed to air, forms a blackhead. An inflammation causes an acne breakout.

Reason #2

Hormones: Blame it on the sebaceous glands. The overproduction of androgens and estrogens kick off these glands that trigger acne. As you grow older, the hormones stop secreting as voraciously. However, unfortunately, the retail world has cracked open the safety zone by introducing hormones to various consumables. This easily manhandles the hormones even at a later stage of life.

Reason #3

Uncontrolled lifestyle: A teenage kid has a stern mom or dad to keep control over, who controls an adult? Self-control is expected out of you. Indulging in too much of chocolates, fried food, alcohol, frenzied lifestyle, all may trigger too much stress on your body and skin. No one is asking you to quit, just do what you were doing, but in moderation. That helps!

Adult and Teen Acne

There is a huge difference between adult acne and a teenager’s pimple breakout. At such a young age, a teenager has a thicker skin. The acne control lotions and gels that could work on such skin type would never work on a thinner skin that you have at the age of 30. However, there are similar products, meant for the older skin that may help you to get rid of adult acne.

Treat adult acne to natural healing

Instead of treating your skin to harsh chemicals and jumping from one skin specialist to another, it is a far better idea to treat naturally. Adult acne can be catered to with ingredients that you have in your kitchen. You will not need to pay a visit to the drug store round the corner. A lemon, some sugar, honey, yoghurt, orange peel, banana skin, papaya juice, gram flour, each and every ingredient can help you prevent and get rid of adult acne.

Treating Acne the Healthy Way

When it’s the matter of your skin, you better not resort to harsh ways of treating acne. Acne, or pimple or zit, whatever you may call it, require immediate attention, and definitely in the best way possible. To get on with your acne treatment you must take a look at certain conditions first. Coming straight to the point:

11.       Get a skin test done: The first step to acne treatment is a comprehensive skin test. Each skin type is different and requires a different level of treatment. In order to ensure that your acne treatment goes the right way, test your skin type, allergies that you may not know of, and other dimensions your dermatologist may refer to.

22.       Go green: Well, dressing up in green might make you look brighter, but its only leafy green vegetables that can bring that integral glow on your skin. To treat acne, you must prepare your skin to be acne-safe. Fortify your skin by consuming vegetables, cereals, dairy products, and fish. Vegetables like carrots, squash and broccoli, are rich in provitamin A, one of the most essential ingredients that fight acne.

33.       Herbs to cure: Certain South Asian herbs like ‘Neem’, when prepared in a paste, works wonders on acne. Azadirachta Indica, or Neem essentially possesses anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities. The paste of this herb can be use directly on your acne for quick relief and also works as preventive care.

44.       Sweat it out: A daily work out regime makes you sweat, and this process helps bring out the dirt that rests within the pores. Again, diminishing calories and intake of sweets will help control an oily breakout on your face and skin.

55.       Go organic: Yoghurt is an organic potion to acne treatment. Unless you are lactose intolerant (find out from your dermatologist), there is no reason why you cannot exfoliate your skin with the help of this natural product. Yoghurt consists of lactic acid which has an exfoliating effect. Not only does it exfoliate, but also reduces scarring that results from a burst of acne.

66.       A baker’s surprise: Baking soda is one of the best acne treatment ingredients you may have in your kitchen. Mixed with equal portion of water to make a paste, it can be applied over the face as a facial pack for about 15 minutes.

Always consult your doctor if you are not sure that an ingredient may affect your type of skin.Discover how you can beat your acne naturally. FREE Presentation reveals how you can start seeing results within the next 7 days.Click here to learn more : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al4ZiI_y1KE
